Making Time For Our Friendships

We all have times in our lives when our priorities aren’t really on socialising. Whether it’s moving house (like I have just done), a new partner, a new job, or something else entirely that has captured all our attention, it’s important to find a way to make time for our friendships.
No matter how busy you may be, keeping in touch can be as simple as initiating a conversation every once in awhile, just to let them know you care about them. They will understand if you can’t meet up all the time as long as you still care enough to check in. And you’ll never regret being a good friend and having a support network of friends around you.
Lets be frank…
IF YOU STOP TRYING, EVENTUALLY SO WILL THEY.
A friendship has to be a two way street, and if someone feels like they’re always doing all the work, it’s only a matter of time before they just give up and move on to someone who actually seems interested in hanging out with them.
YOU DON’T WANT TO WAKE UP ONE DAY AND REALIZE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEM ANYMORE.
People grow up, and lives can change in a split second. That doesn’t mean your friendship can’t evolve along with you. But you have to be willing to put the time in to make that happen, or else you’ll just grow apart until your friendship is a distant memory.
YOU NEED A LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK.
Work hard, play hard, right? Even if you work crazy hours, you still get days off and holiday. Having friends to spend some of that down time with will help you really disengage from work for a little while, and you need that.
YOU NEED A LIFE OUTSIDE OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP.
A healthy relationship requires both people to have interests outside of each other. Just because you’re part of a couple doesn’t mean have to do everything together.
Just a few things to keep in mind and hopefully motivate you to touch base with some friends you haven’t spoken to in a while.
